  1. RE: What's this mean?

I get the same message when running "/etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start". I
have just installed 7.0.3 rpms from ftp.postgresql.org
    <ftp://ftp.postgresql.org> . I'm running RedHat Linux 6.1 . I've never
seen this message either. Something to do with the new version of
    PostgreSQL?

    Thanks.

    		bash$ /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start
    		Checking postgresql installation:
    [
    		OK ]
Starting postgresql service: standard in must be a tty
    [FAILED]

I haven't seen this in any documentation.
    		Any one have any idea?

    		Any info is appreciated.
    		Thanks.

    H-

I got an email from helpful person (John Burski) and this is what he said.

    **********************************************
I saw this one a couple of days ago at home.

The /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql script expects to be run at boot time by
"root". I simply "su-ed" to root an ran the script again. It started
    OK.

    Regards,
    ******************************************

    Hope this helps out.
    -Sterling

PS(I haven't tried this solution yet myself as I'm in a different place than
when I posted the first email.)
