Tanuwijaya <tanuwijaya@gmail.com> — 2009-05-25T03:03:38Z
Dear All, Once in a while I ever installed the old progreSQL, but then I uninstalled it. Now, I want to install it again, but always asked for a password, when I enter the password it will said that the password is wrong. What should I do so I can install it again? Thanks in advance. -- Best regards, -Sobari Tanuwijaya- ------------------------------------------------------------- along the same lines as the life of his Son...

Hello Tanuwijaya, I can understand your frustrations especially as a novice. But if you want people to be able to help you please be precise by telling: - on which operating system and which version are you installing - which version of postgresql are you installing - at which stage are you asked to enter password etc Ibrahim On Mon, May 25, 2009 at 5:03 AM, Tanuwijaya <tanuwijaya@gmail.com> wrote: > Dear All, > > Once in a while I ever installed the old progreSQL, but then I uninstalled > it. > > Now, I want to install it again, but always asked for a password, when I > enter the > > password it will said that the password is wrong. > > What should I do so I can install it again? > > > Thanks in advance. > > > -- > > Best regards, > > > -Sobari Tanuwijaya- > > > ------------------------------------------------------------- > > along the same lines as the life of his Son... > -

I know that pg creates an user during installation, but I don't know if this user is removed after uninstall. If he still exists try to remember/reset his password and try re-install again using this password On Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:46 AM, Ibrahim Shaame <ishaame@gmail.com> wrote: > Hello Tanuwijaya, > I can understand your frustrations especially as a novice. In windows XP its eazy to do. If you think the previous service user for PostgreSQL is still exists goto the Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Local User & Groups. Here you will get the Postgres Account (Postgresql service account). Simply delete that. I hope this will solve your problem. Dear Ibrahim, Thank you very much for telling it. And sorry for not giving a detail information, I will do it in my next question. Currently I have downloaded the last stable version (8.3.7) and install it on my XP home. Everything seems fine. The last installer I use was Oneclick installer from EnterpriseDb. I thought the installer problem has been solved. Thanks. -- Best regards, -Sobari Tanuwijaya- ------------------------------------------------------------- Without positive attitudes, the best techniques in the world won't have much impact.
