Daft question but isn't this an administrator's issue? Forcing a complete override of umask isn't usually considered a decent, friendly thing to do and the sys admin can change the permission bits. Besides, what was the proposed scheme? user/group writable world not I presume. I wouldn't even know how to port that to un unixy systems like Win32. -- Nigel J.
