    Hi everyone,

I am a complete newbie to postresql and to this mailinglist. I have
downloaded the latest release of postgresql7.0.2 from postresql.org. But during
compiliation I get the following error:

    gmake[3]: Entering directory
    `/usr/src/packages/SOURCES/postgresql-7.0.2/src/interfaces/ecpg/preproc'
    gcc -I../../../include -I../../../backend -O2 -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes
    -Wmissing-declarations -I../include -DMAJOR_VERSION=2 -DMINOR_VERSION=7
    -DPATCHLEVEL=1 -DINCLUDE_PATH=\"/usr/local/pgsql/include\" -c -o preproc.o
    preproc.c
gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11

I am running SuSe Linux 6.4 on an Intel Pentium System and gcc version
    2.95.2 19991024 (release), GNU Make version 3.78.1.
Please help my, as I am complete lost. Any hints or solutions are welcome.

    look at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/faq-linux.html

    chap 1.17

    it's seems to be a hardware/memory problem ...

    ... good luck !
