Problems with Installation

Hi everyone, I am a complete newbie to postresql and to this mailinglist. I have downloaded the latest release of postgresql7.0.2 from postresql.org. But during compiliation I get the following error: gmake[3]: Entering directory `/usr/src/packages/SOURCES/postgresql-7.0.2/src/interfaces/ecpg/preproc' gcc -I../../../include -I../../../backend -O2 -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -I../include -DMAJOR_VERSION=2 -DMINOR_VERSION=7 -DPATCHLEVEL=1 -DINCLUDE_PATH=\"/usr/local/pgsql/include\" -c -o preproc.o preproc.c gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11 I am running SuSe Linux 6.4 on an Intel Pentium System and gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release), GNU Make version 3.78.1. look at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/faq-linux.html chap 1.17 it's seems to be a hardware/memory problem ... ... good luck ! mat ( mat@reynerie.yi.org )
