I've used from the command line:

pg_dump dbname -f filename -z -v

to create the sql creation scripts as well as the data.


I believe I originally found this in the documentation available at
http://www.postgresql.org

also 'man pg_dump' will give you some info.

I thought there was a manpage for it but I can't find it on my system.

copies on www.postgresql.org
