experiences since splitting the list
Anton Stckl <tony@cys.de> — 1998-06-09T09:28:22Z
Hey guys, as I just read a discussion about another new list (newbie) in the ".. LOGO .." thread, here's my experience since the list was splitted: If you look at the ports and the bugs list, you'll see, that there are more questions than answers. I personally didn't get any answer, since the split. I'm on this list for a year or so, and I can tell you that it was MUCH better before the split. As one of the biggest disadvantages of PostgreSQL vs. MySql/.... is the lack of documentation (not my words - you'll remember some discussions about that) I consider that to be VERY bad. What is the sense of the bug templates and the new lists, if nobody answers? I consider those lists to be very important, as you can't work with PG if I doesn't compile. What are your experiences? regards, Tony -- ----------C-Y-B-E-R-S-O-L-U-T-I-O-N-S---------------- Anton Stöckl mailto:tony@cys.de CyberSolutions GmbH http://www.cys.de Frankfurter Ring 193A Phone +49 89 32369223 80807 Muenchen Fax +49 89 32369220 ------W-E----M-A-K-E----I-T----P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E-------

I was convinced there was no documentation, but my opinion has changed slightly. There is documentation but I have not found it to be complete or organized in a manner which is conducive to my learning the material. I have found hundreds of pages of manuals, man pages, FAQs, and so forth, and searching through them can be a real challenge and doesn't always reveal an answer.
