Not even in the spirit of it. Yes, that is the joy of POSIX, ANSI, SUS, SUSv2, XPG*, etc. The differences in the OS aren't visible at the user level and shouldn't be (beyond the layout/management). That said, standards are great, but all select()/poll() calls weren't created equal, just like all SELECT statements weren't created equal. -sc -- Sean Chittenden
