unixODBC drivers

I have search everywhere and learned “supposedly” that if you want to
have long query strings with this driver you have to change the
TEXT_FIELD_SIZE I have done this with no effect.  Does anyone have any
experience with getting long queries to work with the unixODBC driver??
I would greatly appreciate and help
