one Questions for postgres6.5.1

hi dear teach:

we install postgres6.5.1 
try run initdb return me this message:

Running: postgres -boot -C -F -D/home/pgsql/data -Q template1
        syntax error 2334 : parse error

i can't create template1 database
i can't use postgres

i need you help
