So you mean that put the DB and the GUI on the same Windows workstation is less expensive that leave the GUI on a windows system and the DB on a *nix box. Your client is aware of about much cost loose his datas ? I repeat again: "Don't put your DB host under the hand of the final user" don't mentioning the fact that the host is a windows host!
